A National Day evening gala rehearsal concluded at Beijing's Tian'anmen Square in the early hours of last Sunday morning, September 12, 2009. A huge fireworks display was the highlight. A range of colorful fireworks complimented the various themes of the gala.

On the evening of October 1, a gala with the theme of "Praising our motherland and our times, and raising Chinese people's spirits" will be staged in Tiananmen Square. Fireworks will be let off in Tiananmen Square and other designated places.
