On June 29, it will be one year since the Beijing Subway first implemented its security system. The Beijing Subway will continue to carry out security checks in the long-term, adhering to the "check every bag" policy.

Since the security system was implemented a year ago, 440 million items have been checked and nearly 60,000 prohibited items seized, including guns, bullets, inflammable and explosive materials and knives according to sources from the Beijing Subway.

Over 20,000 people carrying prohibited items have been persuaded to leave subway stations, while more than 4,000 people have been transferred to public security departments. Of these, over 140 people have been punished according to the law.

342 security check sites have been set up in all stations on operating subway lines.
