In Taiwan, an exhibition is attracting hordes of visitors who are keen to get a glimpse at artifacts from more than two thousand years ago.

The show entitled, "The Smile of the Terra Cotta Figurines" opened last Saturday at the Taipei History Museum. The exhibition proved a huge sensation on its first day, as hundreds of local residents lined up to view the cultural treasures. All the items on display are on loan from Shaanxi Province on the Chinese mainland. Among them are nearly 300 terra cotta figurines excavated from the tomb of the Jingdi Emperor, who ruled the Han Dynasty in the second century BC. Three years of preparations have gone into the show.
