The former King of Pop, Michael Jackson, was pronounced dead in a Los Angeles hospital after apparently suffering a heart attack. He would have turned 51 years old in August. In today's "Spotlight", we will review the legendary singer's life and achievements, and see how his fans are reacting to his tragic death.

Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his home.

The paramedics tried to resuscitate him and took him to UCLA Medical Center. The circumstances of Jackson's death were not immediately clear.

Jackson's death brings a tragic end to a once dazzling career that eventually dissolved into a bizarre shadow of his former self. At his peak, he was once a champion of fusing black and white music. He also shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled millions of fans on stage and television.

Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana. He was the seventh of nine children. His career started when he was a young boy, as part of the quintet known as "The Jackson 5"-- a group that consisted of Jackson and his four brothers.
