After one of the most exciting finishes of the Volvo Ocean race so far, Green Dragon came home to a hero's welcome in the Irish city of Galway on Sunday.

Thousands of supporters stayed up all night to see the Irish boat into Galway. First to come in though was Ericsson 4. Then came Puma in second place. If Green Dragon failed to finish in third, the Irish boat wouldn't get a podium position in an Irish port.

And just at the moment when people were anxiously waiting, there came the Dragon! crew cheers! Galway erupted, celebration began, dancing on a swan-shape boat. Fireworks, singers, dancing, Ivan Moore receiving cheers... It was one of the biggest reception in the race so far.

Guo Chuan of Green Dragon said, "I am very very glad. We came back to a home port again. Qingdao was the first, and Galway was the second. We finished in third... a great performance! Very glad!"

Leg 7 was an epic transatlantic one with gusts of over 40 knots, breakages, and knock downs. The fleet has performed some of the best ever sailing in the race. The Dragon held off Telefonica's challenges and beat them to the finish line by just three miles.
