MADRID, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Minor Spanish soccer team Mallorca defeated league champions Barcelona 2-1 on Sunday in a match where the bigger team's attention was clearly elsewhere, a day after Barcelona had defeated Real Madrid to take its 19th league title.

The victory means Mallorca will avoid relegation, but with the league already secured, there is little chance it will dent Barca fans' celebrations.

Much of Barca's main squad was absent, as top players rest and train for May 27's European Cup final in Rome. Even so, Barca scored first.

However, spurred by relegation fears, Mallorca fought back. The game was marked by ups and down in dominance, but Mallora won out in the end.
