Shanghai to open TV festival

In Beijing, more details have been revealed about the Shanghai TV festival to run from June 8th to the 12th.

Director Zheng Xiaolong will lead the jury panel for Magnolia Awards at the 15th TV Festival in Shanghai. TV series, including "Undercover and My Chief" and "My Regiment", have received the most nominations.

The Magnolia Awards is divided into 24 awards across four categories including TV films, documentaries, animation and TV series. The jury is composed of prestigious names from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong SAR, the US, France, Japan, South Korea and Australia.

The 15th TV Festival will see productions of a high caliber, especially in the documentary categories, where the entries including "The Mosquito Problem and Other Stories", "The Thirst of a Stone Sea" - already award winners at international festivals. In the animation category, "Children's Encyclopedia" and "Romance of Three Kingdoms" are fine productions which are entertaining and educational.

The TV festival also includes a college student TV festival, forums and an exhibition of outstanding TV programs.
