Nadal sets up final against Federer

Tennis results from the Madrid Open now, where Rafael Nadal had a very close shave against Novak Djokovic in the men's event. And women's world number one Dinara Safina beat Patty Schnyder to set up a meeting with Caroline Wozniacki in the final.

In the men's game, Novak Djokovic looked like he might end Rafael Nadal's unbeaten run on clay when he took the first set 6-3. But the Spaniard fought back in a gruelling second set, taking it 7-5 on the tie-break. The third set also went to a tiebreak, and Nadal had to fight off three match points before finally beating the Serb 11-9. It took Nadal more than four hours to win the match, the longest in Masters history. The other semi-final was between Juan Martin del Potro and Roger Federer. The world number two easily took the first set 6-3. Federer would go on to win the second 6-4 to set up yet another final with Nadal, a man he's lost his last five matches to, including the French Open, Wimbledon and Australia Open. On the women's side, Danish teenager Caroline Wozniacki met Amelie Mauresmo in the semi-final. The 18 year old took the opening set on a tie-break, easily taking it 7-1. The pair swapped breaks at the start of the second set, but Wozniacki stepped up a gear to take the set and the match. Dinara Safina played unseeded Swiss Patty Schuyder in other semi-final. Schnyder broke serve as errors started to appear in Safina's game, but the 23 year old Russian held on to take the set 6-4. The world number one took three more breaks as she served for the match at 5-2 in the second set. She wrapped up a 6-4, 6-2 victory on her second match point when Schnyder sent a forehand return wide.
