The World Health Organization now reports more than 7,500 cases of A/H1N1 Influenza in 34 countries and regions. The number has surged by more than one-thousand cases from the WHO's previous daily report.
The United States has the most, with over 42-hundred cases confirmed and three deaths. Mexico has 60 confirmed deaths. Canada and Costa Rica have each confirmed one death. Malaysia and Belgium have just announced their first confirmed cases. (VIDEO) The WHO says that although most of the patients only developed mild symptoms, it's too early to relax.
WHO Director-General Margaret Chen says great uncertainty remains about the new strain. She also calls on countries with H1N1 infections to quickly share samples for risk assessment and production of seed vaccine.
