Chinese artist Dongfang Tuqin has opened his solo exhibition at the Minsky Gallery, a renowned art institution in Paris. His unique approach to art is creating a buzz in Parisian art circles.

One of the most captivating and mysterious reoccurring subjects in Dongfang Tuqin's painting is the appearance of shadows. It is probably the artist's shadow, but not necessarily.

It could be a real shadow, but just as easily, it could be an imaginary one. That ambiguity, and the beautiful handling of the brush are what draws visitors to his works and gives them the chance to marvel and dream.

Dongfang Tuqin's distinctive style has been well received by local media, artists and critics.

Dongfang Tuqin's shadow paintings are both silhouetted self-portraits, and also a quest, through painting, to outline not only his human form, but also trace the contour of his very essence.

The artist has held solo exhibitions in a dozen countries, including Japan, South Korea and France. The exhibition at Paris' Minsky Gallery will run until June the 27th.
