Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |
BANGKOK, May 14 (Xinhua) -- The Thai Public Health Ministry will on Friday hold a meeting with representatives from international airlines and the Airport of Thailand Public Company Limited to brainstorm to improve precautionary measures to prevent the A/H1N1 flu outbreak ahead of the world's youth weightlifting competition during May 19-24.
The world's youth weightlifting competition during May 19-24 will be organized in Thailand's northern province of Chiang Mai, where almost 1,000 people, including sport men and concerned staff will gather.
Also, the ministry has assigned the Department of Disease Control to travel to Chiang Mai to plan and prepare preventive steps to curb the potential A/H1N1 flu outbreak during the competition, Witthaya Kaewparadai, Minister of Public Health said in a statement released late Wednesday.
In a related development, the Health Ministry and Foreign Ministry on Thursday invited representatives from embassies to explain about Thailand's precautionary measures to curb the deadly new virus outbreak, the statement said.
