"The Fragrance of Opera" helped kick start the "Original Shows Presentation", a key category at this year's Meet in Beijing Arts Festival.

By fusing acrobatics with modern dance, "The Fragrance of Opera" will be remembered as a revolutionary take on the centuries-old Peking Opera. Meanwhile, this Wednesday night, a performance called "Night Breeze" about an elderly couple's life in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, will present a lively picture of southern China. This year's Meet In Beijing Festival has decided not only to take in overseas performances, but also help draw international attention to original Chinese stage shows.
